Mataram & Cakranegara

• Mataram is the capital of the province which has in the past decades joined with Ampenan, the port, and Cakranegara to become the province's biggest urban complex.

Kuta

• Beautiful beach in southern Lombok. Nice places to stay.
• Drive west out of Kuta along the mountain road for splendid views over the coast line. Visit small fishery villages and beaches.

• Ferry harbour to Bali. Crossing takes 4-5 hours.

• Ferry harbour to Sumbawa. Crossing takes 1-2 hours.

Rinjani National Park

• Follow the mainroad to Mataram from Labuhan Lombok, then turn north up the mountain.
• Stay in Hati Suci homestay at the foot of the mountain.

Sukarare

• This is a village of weavers south of Cakranegara. Lombok is known for its brightly patterned songket cloth.

Sengkol, Pujut and Rambitan

• Three traditional villages in southern Lombok on the road from the capital to Kuta Beach.

North Lombok

• Nice ride along the coast.
• A good ride can start in Batu Bolong, then all along the coast beyond Anyar and across Mt. Rinjani to stay in Hati Suci losmen.

Gili Air, Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan

• Gili, in Sasak means "island". These three islands are clustered together just off the northwest coast of Lombok. Gili Air, the nearest island, can be reached in 10 to 15 minutes by outrigger boat from Bangsal harbor, near Pamenang.

• Beach resort with lots of restaurants and hotels.

Batu Bolong

• Batu Bolong is a 5 min ride from Sengigi and a less crowded place to stay. This beach has a huge rock with a hole in it. A Hindu temple lies on top facing the Lombok Strait and beyond is the contour of majestic Mount Agung of Bali. Watch the stunning sunset when the sun slowly begins to disappear behind Mount Agung.
