OMP-GIS is our label to indicate different services and spatial data analysis tools for geographical information systems solutions, which are based on OMP. |
OMP-GIS and spatial data analysis
Every company that maintains an agronomy database like OMP should consider to implement a geographical information system (GIS) to show data as geographically referenced information in maps. This allows you to look at specific data in spatial relation to their actual location in an estate.
What do you need to use OMP-GIS?
Basic requirements: You need to have the following basic components in place to use OMP-GIS services:
- A basic block area map of all estate blocks, which should be properly georeferenced.
See: How to get a basic block map
- Optionally: a commercial GIS software package, like MapInfo, ArcView or comparable and compatible programmes.
See: comercial GIS/GPS products
(If companies don't want to run their own GIS sections, we offer solutions to take over the actual mapping process)
Agrisoft provides different options and services to implement OMP-GIS:
Standard GIS enabled OMP installation / no special GIS support beyond basic installation and training is required:
- This option is for customers with a working GIS section already in place and no further request for support.
Standard GIS enabled OMP installation with GIS special set-up and training support:
- training for GIS operators as required
- thematic map templates will be provided
- legend templates will be provided
- backstopping services
